Summer music revisited
Summer, the season of beaches, bbq’s and music festivals. The season that inspires us all, the poets, the painters, the song writers. Think Summer of 69, Summer Rain or Summer Days just to name a few. The good people at Timeout in New York have compiled a list of 50 of their favourite Summer songs to hit the beach with. We agree they have found some great summer music! Pop those into Spotify on your next trip to the beach with your iPhone speakers and you will be set.
If your summer musical thoughts are bigger than the beach did you know did you know these songs can be reworked or crossed over? Crossed into genres of music to sound both familiar and completely different?
Our artists know that the pop in pop music means popular. They know that regardless of their style, you want to hear the songs you know and love. Hence the most stunning crossovers come to pass. Our advice? If you want something, ask for it. Like a particular song but really think a different style of performance would better suit your event? Why not ask the performer if they can cover it their way? Alternatively investigate the performer you like further, most of our artists include a repertoire list on their page. Have a look at a few, you will be surprised.
Here’s just a few of our fabulously unique options…
Pop turned Jazz
How do you like your Jazz? The amazing JB Jazz Band can do all your classics, but also some that you would never expect. A Brittney Spears cover Jazz style? Check out their cover of the song Toxic. It’s pop music like you’ve never heard it before!
Pop on the Harp
The lovely HW Harpist is everything you would expect of such a classical instrumentalist. Bringing that longed for style and elegance to your event. However, she also knows that style and elegance does not exclude modern or pop songs. The lovely HW Harpist has a lovely rendition of the song All of Me available to listen to and a diverse variety of other options available when you book.
Pop crossed to classical
Lastly there is the crossover that coined its own hashtag – #classicalcrossover. Is it theatre? Maybe classical? Is that a pop song? Classical crossover turns it all on its head guaranteeing a performance not to be forgotten. What would you like to hear mixed up? Consider the samples by TR Soprano.
The important thing about summer music for events, like any event, is that you get what you like. Don’t be afraid to have the song you like on the instrument or style you like even if they aren’t traditional bedfellows. Music is art and individuality. There is something for everyone.
